Sam Kobee, a self-taught artist talented in abstract coastal paintings, was raised near the coastline, Adabraka in Accra. He was inspired by his family and specifically his elder brother to pursue Art as a career. Although he had only studied various science subjects in education, during his studies, he was wildly commended for his steady hands and good handwriting. The Art department in his school had selected several well praised pieces of his for an art exhibition. Glen Turner, a talented artist in his own right, had noticed Kobee marketing his designs on his shirt and connected deeply with him as artist to artist.
In this viewing room, we have a display of Kobee’s pieces, the dramatic portrayals of colour that turns the viewer’s eye to the studied details of the painting providing a mystical escape from reality.

Jonathan K Aggrey, the leading watercolour artist in Africa, was born and raised in Tema, Accra. He had graduated with a degree in Art Education (Bachelor of Arts) at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. His art pieces are timeless snapshot of the culture, the people and the coastlines of Ghana. They capture a very historic and vibrant part of Ghana. Aggrey uses the wet-in-wet technique and gradually incorporates the forms and finishes of the work and ending it with the dry brush strokes to enhance the character of the painting. He maintains the freshness and wispy aesthetic of the paintings by keeping the background exciting, capturing the viewer’s eye and leading it to the painting activities.

Aggrey has had the privilege of exhibiting in group and solo exhibitions in several countries including Ghana, Turkey, Romania, China, Thailand, Colombia, Nigeria, Italy, France, Norway, Korea and Russia. He has also appeared in several major international catalogues and publications around the world. His collectors include Qingdao Art Museum, China and numerous art collectors around the world. He won a ‘Young icon’ award in the Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah African Genius Award, 2014. He also won ‘Golden Brush’ award in Gaziantep, Turkey 2017 and many more.

Kofi Nduro was born January 14th 1964 in Tarkwa, Ghana.  He was a student of Ghanatta College of Art and design. Nduro defines himself as traditionalist deep in the mythology of African art. Womanhood, landscapes and symbols are embedded in the themes he explores. He developed his style after 16 years of an internal identity search  within the art world. This soul search can be witnessed within his pieces through a combination of brush, knife and fingers on virgin canvas as he works with medium.

Kofi’s work is widely collected in Europe, United States and Ghana. Allow yourself to be enveloped in the romantic world of Kofi Nduro. Currently the CEO of kofinduro studio at Cantonments, Accra.
